Heidi Fardell

Heidi is a freelance recorder player andbaroque flautist working with various early and contemporary ensembles acrossthe UK (Fiori Musicali, The City Musick, Musical & Amicable Society andSounds Historical.) She has also recorded for several contemporary groupsincluding Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown Festival, French for Cartridge and recordedfor BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4.

Alongside her performance work, Heidi isalso a respected musician in education. She is vice chair of the EuropeanRecorder Teachers Association (UK) and has developed bespoke musical workshopsfor clients across the UK including Kensington Palace, the Royal Festival Hall,Handel House Museum, Tate Britain and the National Gallery. Heidi is passionateabout neuro-inclusive teaching and mental health in music and has writtenarticles for the Musicians Union, The Recorder Magazine and Continuo Connect.Heidi is also co-director of Banbury Early Music Festival.

For over 20 years, Heidi has taught in awide variety of settings across London and Oxfordshire. In 2004 she worked witha team to develop the Deptford music centre and in 2006 she began her post as arecorder tutor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance Juniordepartment. Heidi currently teaches individuals and ensembles in Oxfordshire,in addition to adjudicating for the British & International federation offestivals, conducting for the Society of Recorder Players and tutoring for the NationalYouth Recorder Orchestra.

Heidi gained her BMus (Hons) and MMus inperformance qualifications at Goldsmiths University (studying recorders with avariety of tutors including Louise Bradbury, Dan Laurin, Katriina Boosey andPeter Holtslag) and a PGCert at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (studyingBaroque flute with Annabel Knight, Katy Bircher and Lisa Beznosiuk).
